"Chilled" is based on a close-up of a polished slab of Kowallabe Quartzite. This type of quartzite is from Australia. I was inspired by the swirling brightness of what looks like thunder clouds against the dazzling pastel coloring of the rock.
The soft pastel brands I used were Henri Roche, Jack Richeson Handrolled, Unison, Mount Vision, and Schmincke.
Shown and Sold during the 2024 Pastel Society of the West Coast's 38th Annual 99 Voices in Pastel International Show at the Brea Gallery in the City of Brea, California.
